Evan Jones
Rev. Evan Jones has served in local churches since he was 19 years old. Initially serving as a summer youth intern in two churches that were also rival football towns in South Texas. He made $2,000 that summer and spent $2,500 on gas and activities for the youth. It was the best summer of his life.
After graduating from the University of North Texas with a degree in Recreation and Leisure Studies (not a joke), he spent 16 years in youth ministry at three different churches in San Antonio, Allen and Plano. Diverse in their size and urban/suburban make-up, he has broad experience in different church settings.
Despite swearing to his wife he would never go back to school, he received his Masters from Perkins School of Theology at Southern Methodist University (humble brag.) With this new education and degree in tow, he “retired” from Youth Ministry due to gym floors being especially rigid in your 40’s. He then served as a Discipleship Pastor at a large downtown congregation. During this time he was Ordained as a Deacon in the United Methodist Church. Evan exited local church ministry in 2021 due to budget cuts. Thanks COVID.
He decided to take some time away from local church and began living out his ministry in a non-profit setting working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. And while this sounds really noble, he really just works on the fundraising team while trying to celebrate the awesome staff that are actually doing the hard work.
Way way back in 1996, he met his incredible wife Jana. She is the D to his I. They have been married for 20+ years. Somewhere in the craziness of ministry and moving, they had 2 awesome kids. Kyler is a student at Tarleton State University and Harper is in 8th grade living her best life as a second-born child whose brother is out of the house.
Evan is an ENFP, Enneagram 7 and an I-G in the Working Genius Model – which explains his deep love of a variety of things. At the top of the list are “his family,” the Dallas Stars, the McLaren F1 Team, Sharpie Gel .38 pens, and going on any adventure – especially if it involves a city with a craft brewery.
